Webinar Series | “Bridging the Gap: Academics and Practitioners in Sustainable Finance” (1/5)
The aim of this webinar series is to build a bridge between academic research and practitioners in the field of sustainable finance. The idea is that a researcher presents findings from sustainable finance studies, which are then discussed by practitioners, particularly with regard to their practical application.
The webinar series is exclusively designed for employees of member institutions. Participation is free of charge.
Content
One of the key questions about sustainable investing is whether it is an effective mechanism to bring about change in the real economy, for example, towards lower carbon emissions.
Prof. Dr. Julian Kölbel, University of St. Gallen, will share the results of a series of experiments about this question and draw out their implications for practitioners. In short, he will show that retail investors have a preference for impact but are not necessarily willing to pay for it, that shareholder engagement is a promising mechanism to have impact, and that sustainable investing is not counterproductive in the sense that it erodes political engagement for sustainability. He will also point out why experiments can be valuable for practitioners and how to approach such projects practically.
Note
The dial-in details for the MS Teams webinar will be provided to you in due course prior to the webinar.
