Webinar Series | “Bridging the Gap: Academics and Practitioners in Sustainable Finance” (4/5)

The aim of this webinar series is to build a bridge between academic research and practitioners in the field of sustainable finance. The idea is that a researcher presents findings from sustainable finance studies, which are then discussed by practitioners, particularly with regard to their practical application.

The webinar series is exclusively designed for employees of member institutions. Participation is free of charge.

Content

A recent critique of sustainable finance argues that withdrawing capital from high-emitting companies may hinder their green transformation. In their new working paper, Dominik Boos, lecturer in Asset Management at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and Julia Meyer, Professor of Sustainable Finance at ZHAW propose a solution to this problem by making investment contingent on corporate behaviour. This approach increases the cost of capital for companies using fossil fuels, effectively raising their perceived energy costs. The result is a built-in financial incentive to reduce emissions.

Note

The dial-in details for the MS Teams webinar will be provided to you in due course prior to the webinar.
